Fresh Wild Fly & Bold

Yes yes y'all!

October 10th 2011 sees the return of the UK's all-star producer Mark B (Mark B & Blade – The Unknown) back on his own K-Boro Records imprint with his new brand new single 'Fresh, Wild, Fly & Bold' - a tribute to old-skool Hip-Hop pioneers 'The Cold Crush Brothers'.

Trying to steer away from the over saturated 'pop-rap' market of recent times, Mark teams up with Dialect to bring it back to absolute basics with gritty-funky samples, hard crunching Emu SP1200 drum machine beats, menacing flutes & most importantly three of Hip-Hop's key elements; knowledge, lyricism, & scratching.

To coincide with the release, Mark B & Dialect are also launching their brand new website: FreshWildFlyAndBold.com and after seeing some of my previous work for 'Trackside Burners Radio Show' on www.deepfrequency.com
Mark B contacted me asking to create a 'old-skool graffiti' style outline piece of artwork to be used within the site and to be printed on promotional T-Shirts..............and this is it! (below)

Guerilla WarSnare Logo.

-"Design and development"
Daniel Potter aka Guerilla WarSnare, already a well established and respected musician across many genres and guises is now working on his eagerly awaited début album. And guess what, I have been lucky enough to land the job of creating a logo and identity for the talented South Londoner. I met with him over a beer or two to discuss ideas and themes of which he liked. It was decided a modern take on a constructivist logo would be the route in which to design. Still in progress, here are some ideas.

Character design.

-'The day of ghouls is upon us'
So Halloween is just around the corner, I am currently building a diverse catalogue of characters for use on various media. No doubt there will be some use for some of these chaps during this holiday period.

The London Design Festival 2011

-'It's only right I should go'
Well I was pretty excited to be honest, but not the coolest thing to admit whilst down the local with the 'lads'.
I think I managed to cover everything related to the Design Festival at the V&A, trying to make logic of pretty bad layout to the guide wondering aimlessly at times. One of the main attractions 'The power of Making' was very insightful into modern conceptual design, but what stood out for me was the 'Brutal Simplicity of Thought' exhibition, showing the strength of simple but effective design through the times.

Now I've had a nice dose of culture....it's back to the pen!

Bad Kerning.

-'It physically hurts my eyes'
Having such a strong interest in the relationship between text and art, bad kerning is something that really irritates me to the point of having to resist altering examples from shop branding to road markings. However, it seems I am not alone.

Only a few pages into what seems a brilliant book, I find this little treasure.

Art that lasts a lifetime.

-'Embellishing the body'
To some, the ultimate form of customisation and enhancement. Both designs below are now life long.

- 'Continuing a theme from the previous post seems logical'.
Let me introduce you to a character development of mine, Mike Ruffon
One dull, boring and dreary weekend I upped paint and headed to the tunnel in Waterloo to lay down some fresh Aerosol art. Completely free-handed and with no preparation, I received  great interest in Mike and several incarnations later he appears on various commissions of mine.

The beginning...(ish)

- 'It all has to start somewhere'
So this is the start of my blog, no ordinary blog, a blog showcasing not just my artwork but an insight into my world, my experiences and my creative appetite.
